Greetings from Cairo! I arrived yesterday and as I type, the dawn chorus of Egypt's capital is drifting across the Nile: a mix of the Call to Prayer and an orchestra of automobile horns.
Ancient Egypt, of course, invented papyrus, the precursor to paper. And now that I work in publishing, I spent more time than before gazing at the hieroglyphs behind the glass at the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square.
Time, of course, moves on. And now, not only do we no longer use papyrus but after 50 years of publishing at Bradt, we have some old covers on new travel journals, ripe and ready for your own scribblings and memories.
At the pyramids with one of our new travel journals...
There's Backpacking Along Ancient Ways in Peru and Bolivia - an ode to the first ever Bradt guide - and Backpackers Africa, a new hardback journal that evokes the early days of Bradt. Perfect for Christmas gifts, dare I say, whether for friends or family or, well, honestly, you.
But if you prefer your books to come with words already in them, then do check out our new titles like this new edition of Azores and the Falkland Islands.
PS – Too many emails? Click on monthly if you only want to hear from us once a month instead. You'll know it's worked because you'll be taken to a travel article to read as a thank you. No further action required!
