Cher·ère·s ami·e·s du foraus
After 7 years, I am leaving a dream job at foraus to deepen my passion for mediation. What a ride it has been! I joined foraus when it was still a chaotic startup in need of someone with “ambiguity tolerance” to run its first bigger project: a nationwide migration dialogue. With myriad formats, we engaged several thousand citizens, migrants and leaders. An experiment with digital participation led to the creation of Policy Kitchen, which now enables us to run global-scale participatory processes on AI governance, feminism, human mobility and more. We achieved a level of professionalization without losing the creative startup spirit. This involved sweat, blood and tears grappling with IT meltdowns, fundraising crunches and timeline madness. But mostly, it involved the passion of countless amazing people - volunteers, members, interns, colleagues, board members, supporters... Thank you all for your inspiration, trust and support! You made me thrive along with this organization.

Juli in Bern. Futuring Peace in Northeast Asia
Last Friday we had our first summer session of “Futuring Peace in North-East Asia” in partnership with the UN Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA).  It is a virtual participatory strategic foresight dialogue series with Northeast Asian youth organized with the help of our policy crowdsourcing methodology Policy Kitchen. The eight co-created scenarios were developed using strategic uncertainties and focus on regional narratives and commonalities through new technologies or education tools. After testing the scenarios with a wider public on Remesh Flex, a citizen engagement tool, we will ideate policy recommendations on September 9th, which will then be shared with policy makers in bridging events taking place end of the year. Stay tuned, for the co-created policy recommendations from youth peacemakers from Korea, Japan, China, and Mongolia!

Check it out!

World Biodiversity Forum: a co-created Resolution to reverse biodiversity loss
What an inspiring collaboration! foraus successfully co-created the Conference Resolution of the World Biodiversity Forum (WBF) together with nearly a hundred scientific and academic biodiversity experts using our policy crowdsourcing methodology Policy Kitchen! The Resolution, bundling collective knowledge into a concrete call to action to reverse biodiversity loss, was accepted by WBF participants in Davos last week. Check out our recommendations here. We thank our partners from the University of Zurich, bioDISCOVERY, the URPP Global Change and Biodiversity for the organisation of the Forum and the great collaboration.
