Former Trump strategist Steve Bannon convicted of contempt of Congress over Jan. 6 subpoena

A jury on Friday found Steve Bannon, an adviser to former President Donald Trump, guilty on two counts of contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with subpoenas from the Jan. 6 committee.

Prosecutors had argued that Bannon acted as if he were “above the law” in ignoring the committee’s requests for testimony and documents. He will face a minimum of 30 days and up to 1 year in prison when sentenced.
