Element Zero could not have invented, then designed and constructed, its "green" iron pilot plant in the time frame claimed and with the budget available to it, according to documents lodged by Fortescue in its federal court case against former employees it says stole intellectual property.

Meanwhile, Glencore will retain its network of coal mines in NSW and Queensland after bumper profits encouraged shareholders to reject the global mining giant's plan to divest its fossil fuel operations.

And a solar panel manufacturer backed by Mike Cannon-Brookes and former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull is preparing to cut up to 35 jobs in a possible setback to Anthony Albanese’s renewables manufacturing plans.
