Combatting Islamists on Social Media with Majd Bader and Emily Austin

Islamist groups make extensive use of social media to spread their ideas, recruit followers, and coordinate activities. Their sophisticated techniques have gained them a previously unimaginable level of visibility and support. They have also called forth a counter-effort to disrupt these efforts. What strategies and tactics are used against them? How effective are these counter-efforts? What are current trends? 

Majd Bader is the managing partner and head of strategic partnerships of Arcane International (“Where Insights Shape Destiny”). He has worked in the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office and in high-tech industries.

Emily Austin, a journalist and social media influencer, appears as a commentator on Fox News and other television networks. She has also worked as an MTV anchor, served as a Miss Universe Judge, and broadcasted boxing events for the sports streaming channel DAZN. She attended Touro University and Hofstra University. 

The Middle East Forum, an activist think tank, deals with the Middle East, Islamism, U.S. foreign policy, and related topics, urging bold measures to protect Americans and their allies. Pursuing its goals via intellectual and operational means, the Forum recurrently has policy ideas adopted by the U.S. government.
