| | | Edition 13 | 2022 | | Dear John Do, | | Last year, electricity generated from renewables exceeded that of fossil fuels i.e., coal, gas and oil, the German Ministry for the Environment reported. However, a local surplus of green energy e.g., from wind power, can quickly overload grids. The solution could lie in matching supply and demand better, according to Dr. Tim Plath, joint founder of the Hamburg-based start-up Energie Dock. To this end, the start-up has launched the new Flexhafen pilot project with Stromnetz Hamburg and the Hamburg-based eco-energy co-operative Green Planet Energy. Emphasis is optimising the charging of electric cars thereby lowering CO2 and making the energy transition more affordable. Meanwhile, the Moorburg power plant is expected to supply green hydrogen from 2026 and Hamburg is launching a new funding scheme for fintechs. Read more in our reports.
