Good morning and thanks for joining us. Here are some of today's top headlines.
Assessing the damage: Recovery from Hurricane Francine continued Friday as Gov. Jeff Landry and other state officials toured the area. James Finn and Lara Nicholson have the story. The visit included a contentious exchange between Landry and Mayor LaToya Cantrell.
Restoring power: Local utilities have been busy trimming trees and restoring service to customers across the metro area, but there are still many who lack electricity. And as Tony McAuley and Rich Collins report, outages will persist in some areas through the weekend.
Dueling proposals: In non-hurricane news, the Archdiocese of New Orleans and the victims of clergy sex abuse have each submitted monetary compensation proposals to bankruptcy court. They two sides are quite far apart. Stephanie Riegel has the details.
