Fraud can occur at any organization, but
churches—regardless of size, age, or location—are extremely susceptible due to their trusting nature. Church leaders are responsible to God and their congregation to safeguard the ministry's assets. While some churches feel as though it couldn't happen to them, none are impervious.
In fact, Church Law & Tax conducted a nationwide financial fraud survey of 700+ church leaders and found that nearly one-third of those surveyed suffered from some type of financial misconduct.
The good news is fraud prevention experts say the vulnerabilities that perpetrators commonly exploit can be easily remedied.
