BoldBrush Recommends: Freddie LiebermanGet Notified When Freddie Posts New Art BiographyFreddie Lieberman's first foray into the art world was when, at age three, she covered her grandparents' newly painted walls with a crayon mural. It was almost her final foray into anything. She earned her BFA in Art Education from the University of Illinois/Champaign-Urbana and then attended classes of her choosing at The Art Institute of Chicago. After teaching art at the high school level for several years, Freddie made the decision to use her training and talent as a free-lance artist. She painted wall murals, life-size sports figures, wall graphics and specialty finishes on walls and furniture. She later designed and painted chairs and benches which were actually portraits. All of the above can be found in homes and businesses all over the country. These endeavors were all a prelude to what Freddie Lieberman is now creating...abstract paintings full of color, emotion, surprises and experimentation with materials and techniques. No rules and no limits. She paints using many layers of translucent glazes and mixed media--each adding to the richness of the final result. The resin coating which she applies to almost every finished piece brings out all the colors and textures and makes them POP One of her most current series is called Glitter and Gold. As the name implies, all these pieces are created with materials such as acrylic paint, gold, silver and copper leaf, mica flakes, sequins, beads, metallic paints....in short, BLING. Colors, patterns, shapes, lines are layered one on top of the other producing a rich 3D tapestry. In December of 2018, and again in 2022, Freddie was honored to be named Artist of the Year by the prestigious Scottsdale Artists League. Most of Ms. Lieberman's paintings are also available as prints on metal and come in several sizes. They have that same high gloss as the original and arrive ready to hang.
