| Join KQED at the Asian Art Museum for KQED Member Days on March 8th and 9th.
In the early 1980s, Japanese avant-garde designers took Paris by storm, disrupting the world of haute couture with their minimalist, deconstructed clothing. “Kimono Refashioned” reveals that this was not the first time Japanese design principles had transformed international fashion. More than 35 garments from the Kyoto Costume Institute convey how the materials, forms, techniques and decorative motifs of kimono have impacted global style from the Victorian era to the digital age.
Admission is free to KQED members plus one guest (total of two persons per KQED MemberCard, membership info from On KQEDmagazine, or this email with a valid ID) on Friday, March 8, and Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 10am to 5pm. Tickets are based on day-of availability only. | |
