Business Ventilation Fund Closes Next Week

The Scottish Government’s Business Ventilation Fund has been created to help businesses improve ventilation and air quality on their premises to help reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission.

The fund will allow businesses to claim back costs to improve ventilation of up to £2,500 and is targeted at high-risk settings where people come into close proximity, such as hospitality and leisure sectors

Increasing Diversity in Manufacturing Project

Workpackage one is a pilot programme to transform the perception of the manufacturing sector and increase opportunities and employment for Women, Ethnic Minorities, and other under-represented groups with protected characteristics across Scotland.
 
One focus of this will be the Creating a Diverse Workplace training series, which will support organisations to review their practices and increase diversity in their workplace.

Fife Medical Group Grows Rapidly As It Secures New Depot

In just two years, Fife Medical Group has grown from being ‘one man and a bag’ into a large, medical cover provider and first aid training company providing premium medical and first aid cover for large-scale events.

It has 140 medical personnel working on its behalf, ranging from basic first aiders through to doctors, and a fleet of 14 ambulances.

Childcare Sector Support Fund

Childcare services hit by Omicron will be able to apply for grants of up to £4,500.  Nearly 5,800 services could benefit from the new £9.8 million Childcare Sector Omicron Impacts Fund.

Registered childminders, as well as private and third sector children’s day care services can apply from 8th March.

Upskilling To Address Climate Change

People who are part of, or wish to enter a land or nature-based industry, can apply for funding support to gain practical skills required to respond to the climate change challenge.

Supported by Scottish Government funding of up to £250,000 and administered by Lantra Scotland, the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Practical Training Fund is open to applications from people aged 13 and over.

This year marks 30 years in business for St Andrews-based Henderson Fabrication, a traditional blacksmith business. Specialising in bespoke hand-forged wrought iron products, the business has been remodelled in recent months.

The business has gone back to basics with its founder, John Henderson, working alongside one part-time employee and sub-contracting where needed. This has enabled the business to focus solely on bespoke products for a range of customers across the UK.
