Suing over free Jazz Fest tickets and perks. And a First NBC trial delay

By Bob Warren

JAZZ FEST FREEBIES: Those lawsuits filed last month by two former presidents of the board that controls the Jazz and Heritage Festival set some tongues wagging, especially after they asked a judge to keep the details from the public. Now we’re seeing what they had wanted to keep from the public’s view, Keith Spera reports.

SUPER SALARY: The School Board in New Orleans has been hammering out a contract with its new schools superintendent. The job will pay well -- the sides are looking at a $300,000 contract.

FIRST NBC TRIAL DELAY: Prepare for a delay, maybe a long one, in the blockbuster First NBC fraud trial. Five people face 49 criminal counts stemming from bank's breathtaking collapse. Trial was set for June 6, but a ruling this week by a federal judge seemingly throws a big wrench into that timing.

BRETON THE BREAKER? The New Orleans Breakers (Right! We’re in the way-back machine) play their first game on Sunday, part of the revamped USFL. The team unveiled its mascot this week and asked fans to post suggested names on social media, which is always entertaining.

Hope you enjoyed today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us. And of course, be sure to check out NOLA.com for more news throughout the day.
