Free school supplies are offered at lots of events in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties for students returning to school in fall 2022.

Back To School events sometimes include activities, entertainment and often free backpacks stuffed with school supplies for eligible students.

Eligibility requirements vary at different events for free backpacks and other free items.

Florida tax-free shopping for apparel, school supplies & electronics

Sales taxes are waived July 25 to August 7 for eligible purchases. Valid for all, students and non-students.

Youth filmmakers will thoroughly enjoy the Miami 4 Social Change Youth Film Festival taking place July 21-22, 2022 at the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater, 17022 NE 19 Ave.

This dynamic 2-day event features a curated selection of stand-out youth films, workshops, master classes, keynote sessions, and red carpet.

What else can be expected? A Media Empowerment Panel, and Aware Ceremony as well.

If a pet is part of your family, the Humane Society in Fort Lauderdale is offering a free opportunity.

Humane Society of Broward is providing free microchip identification in July for owned pets.

When: Mondays to Fridays 9 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., no appointment necessary.

Plantation Historical Museum is always free, and is featuring a display of running model trains.

The museum usually is open 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with occasional exceptions. It’s wise to verify it’s open the day you are interested in.
