Good morning! Spring may be here sooner than you think. According to the National Phenology Network spring leaf out is running 20 days early across the Ohio Valley. Spring is running 5-6 weeks early in parts of the Southwest. Interestingly, the spring debut is running a few days later than average across the Gulf Coast. Polling place battleground: freedom of speech versus freedom from intimidation
All 50 states has laws that banned electioneering outside polling places and eventually, most states adopted even stricter laws inside polling places. Among the strictest is a Minnesota law that bars voters from wearing apparel or buttons that bear a "political" message. On Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court will consider the law.
Major wage hike gets skeptical reception among St. Paul business leaders
A $15 an hour minimum wage is already on the books in Minneapolis. The phase-in started in January and goes fully into effect starting in 2022. In St. Paul, mayor Melvin Carter said at his inauguration that a $15 an hour minimum wage — up from $9.65 an hour now for large employers — is one of his top priorities for his first year in office.

Stoneman Douglas Students head back to school
