Good morning.

Starting Saturday and continuing next week, the latest MPR News/ Star Tribune/KARE 11 Minnesota Poll will look at the 2020 presidential and U.S. senate races, COVID-19 and other top issues.

Unlikely, but possible: How the presidency could hinge on Minnesota The recent death of a third-party candidate in Minnesota’s 2nd District race will leave that seat temporarily vacant — which could end up swinging the results of the entire presidential election. Here’s how. -- David Montgomery, MPR News

A candidate, not a prosecutor: Harris' role in upcoming Supreme Court hearings Kamala Harris made her national reputation as a sharp, partisan questioner in Senate hearings. As a vice presidential nominee, that may not be her approach in the next Supreme Court confirmation. -- Scott Detrow, NPR

Pence to cops in Minneapolis: “We’re with you” “'We’re not gonna defund the police,' Pence said to a roar of applause. 'Not now, not ever.' The event aimed to drum up enthusiasm for Trump’s “law-and-order” push, which Republicans hope will be a winning issue for them in November.  Paradoxically, Trump’s own inner circle has been beset with criminal investigations and convictions, including his 2016 campaign manager Paul Manafort; deputy campaign manager Rick Gates; longtime confidant and GOP operative Roger Stone; and personal lawyer Michael Cohen. His other 2016 campaign manager and former White House strategist Steve Bannon has been charged with fraud in the case of a nonprofit organization that was set up to build a wall between Mexico and the United States." -- Deena Winter and Max Nesterak, MN Reformer

Ballot lawsuit: Two Minnesota Republicans have filed a lawsuit against the state over its decision to count ballots that are received a week after the Nov. 3 presidential election ( Fox News).
