Volunteers form nonprofit to help struggling F&B workers

Pay It Forward Charleston began with quick thinking by Butcher & Bee workers. When the city shut down in March, they packed up grocery bags for industry workers. They’ve donated more than 11,250 to-date and have now formed a nonprofit.

Despite a temporary shutdown last spring caused by a supply chain under siege from COVID-19, the German automaker hit nearly $9 billion in exports for vehicles made in Spartanburg County for 2020.

Quinn to speak at engineering event Feb. 23

SCRA Executive Director Bob Quinn (left) will serve as the keynote speaker at this year's Charleston Engineers Joint Council Engineers Week Banquet at 6 p.m. Feb. 23. The event will be held at The Citadel online this year to ensure pandemic safety protocols. Quinn's keynote, "A Lifelong Career Path of Technology and Business Adventure," will follow presentations, including the Mercedes-Benz Vans STAR Engineer Scholarship, the Engineer of the Year and Technical Project Team of the Year Awards.
