From Flip Flops to Kickflips: Our Students Get Crafty!

TIN

Over the last few weeks, students at all of our Skate Schools have been learning to make their own flip flops, in a series of lessons that was designed by Tin, our Programs Officer in Phnom Penh. On our blog, Tin tells us how the idea was born, and what the children have been up to in the last few weeks.

Skateistan Students Celebrate Go Skateboarding Day 2018

Go Skateboarding Day 2018

We celebrate Go Skateboarding Day at all our Skate Schools as it gives our students the opportunity to be connected to something bigger. This year also marked the end of our Skateistan10 campaign, which hit its target of $50,000, giving us even more reason to celebrate. On our blog, you can read a round-up of what the Skate Schools got up to this year.

2017 Annual Report Now Published

Annual Report

Our 2017 Annual Report is now published, and we want to thank everyone who supported us to empower children through skateboarding and education last year. With the help of our donors, we reached over 2,000 regular students for the first time in our history, and 50% of those were girls for the second year in a row.

We are determined to build on our successes, and we need your help to keep Skateistan rolling. In the meantime, see why 2017 was a fantastic year for Skateistan on our blog

Push To Heal: How Skateboarding Teaches New Skills

Push To Heal

We are very excited to share this short film made by Hull Services in Canada, about the therapeutic benefits of skateboarding. It explores, through neuroscience, how skateboarding can heal the human brain and contribute to our capacity for learning new skills.

This new lens is important because it provides added value to the idea of skateparks as safe spaces for children to play and learn.
