| | Start up and down The pandemic ushered in an entrepreneurial boom, with 2020 bringing a 24% increase in applications to start businesses across the country. But that was out of step with the decade that came before it. The Economic Innovation Group (EIG) this week reported that, based on Business Dynamics Statistics, the years between 2009-2019 were one of the least entrepreneurial periods of the past few decades nationwide. In 2019, EIG said new companies hired 2.4 million workers, which is about the same number as they did in...1982. What do you think, will this new roaring 20s include a startup spike? Do you feel more likely to start a new business in 2021? At the very least, venture capitalists seem more than ready to back them, if current trends hold out for the rest of the year.
