Cooking with seasonal produce is a great way to get more bang for your buck since there are often good deals on seasonal fruits and veggies at your local grocery stores or farmer's markets. Available for only a short time, don’t miss out on fresh cranberries and persimmons - both are combined for the perfect balance of sweetness and tart in Raw Cranberry-Persimmon Relish. Persimmon Bars make a delicious snack or can be frosted and served as dessert. Canned pumpkin is often featured prominently in grocery stores this time of the year. Pick up a can of pure, unseasoned pumpkin puree and make a batch of zesty Chipotle Pumpkin Soup. It's the perfect time to make a batch of Vegetable Sweet Potato Chowder or our creamy Butternutty Soup on cool days to stay warm. These soups pair beautifully with a Spinach Salad and a fresh loaf of whole grain bread for meals that hit the spot every time.
