| | Minnesota Frost keeps the Walter Cup, wins 2-1 over Ottawa Charge | The Walter Cup will stay in Minnesota after the Professional Women’s Hockey League team the Frost won the championship for the second year in a row. The Frost defeated the Ottawa Charge Monday night 2-1, winning Game 4 in the best-of-five PWHL Finals and becoming two-time champions in the league’s second year. | |

| 💐 Remembrance events mark five years since Floyd’s murder. Activists and community leaders in Minneapolis held the Rise and Remember Festival over the weekend to mark five years since George Floyd’s murder by a Minneapolis police officer. 🕯️ MN political leaders on Memorial Day emphasize democracy, bipartisan support for veterans. U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Gov. Tim Walz were among the speakers who, along with the public, honored veterans at the Memorial Day Program at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. 🪴 White Earth Nation opens state’s first recreational cannabis dispensary outside tribal lands. The White Earth Nation made history Saturday with the opening of a cannabis dispensary in Moorhead. The recreational cannabis dispensary is the first-in-the-state to sell marijuana outside of tribal lands. 🔥 Northeastern Minnesota wildfires: What comes next. Three wildfires burned nearly 20,000 acres over the past few weeks. The Forest Service will move from fire suppression to addressing what the fire has done to watersheds, ground cover and roads. They’ll also work to curtail large, damaging fires in the future.
🏀 Thunder fend off T-wolves 128-126 to take 3-1 lead behind SGA’s 40-point game. Being blown out the game before didn't sit well with Oklahoma City. Thunder snapped back from a 42-point loss by beating the Timberwolves 128-126 in Game 4 on Monday night to take a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference finals. 📄 Give Hope, a St. Paul nonprofit, agrees to dissolve. The nonprofit co-founded by chef Brian Ingram has agreed to dissolve. The Minnesota Attorney General’s Office said Give Hope failed to file tax returns and didn’t keep proper financial records. 🏥Indian Health Board of Minneapolis celebrates future health care campus. The group celebrated the groundbreaking of a new wellness center on Friday. Like several celebrations that were set for early May to kick off American Indian Month, the community event was postponed due to fatal shootings.
🌲Veterans with PTSD turn to the outdoors to improve mental health. Spending time engaging in outdoor recreation is known to improve general health and well-being. And research shows that veterans, in particular, benefit from outdoor activities as part of a complementary approach to treating mental health. |
