Fully funded trips to Te Papa available now!

Until 31 May 2016

We are offering fully funded school visits to Te Papa, thanks to the generous support of the Earthquake Commission (EQC) and the Wellington Community Trust (WCT). These visits to the Awesome Forces and Gallipoli: The scale of our war exhibitions are available in Terms 1 and 2 before 31 May.

Earthquake Commission–funded Awesome Forces visit
EQC and Te Papa will cover the cost of your transport to Te Papa and participation in our Awesome Forces education programme.*

Your students will:
  • journey deep into the centre of the Earth
  • discover the forces that shape the landscape of Aotearoa New Zealand
  • piece together the puzzle of plate tectonics
  • carry out hands-on investigations into why we experience earthquakes and volcanic eruptions
  • work out the best way to prepare for these natural events.
 
Learning areas and strands: Science – Planet Earth and Beyond: Earth systems
Suitable for: Years 4–8
Duration: 60 minutes

*This funding is available to lower North Island decile 1–7 primary schools.

Wellington Community Trust–funded Gallipoli visit
WCT and Te Papa will cover the cost of your transport to Te Papa and participation in our Gallipoli education programme.*
Students will explore the emotional and physical toll of the Gallipoli campaign in World War I through the eyes and words of eight ordinary New Zealanders struggling through extraordinary circumstances.
They will hear their diary entries, look at their photos, read their letters, and see their personal belongings.

Learning areas and strands: Social Science – Continuity and Change
Suitable for: Years 5–9
Duration: 60 minutes

*This funding is available to decile 1–4 schools in Wellington, Porirua, Hutt City, Upper Hutt, and Kāpiti.
