Minnesota's mask mandate comes to an end today

Happy Friday! Here go top headlines for you, after the weekend forecast:

Planning an outdoor adventure? Don't forget your umbrella☂️ ☂️We are getting a mixed bag of some sunlight and rain this weekend. It'll be partly sunny with a chance of showers throughout the weekend, with highs in the 60s to 70s. Check out the latest from Updraft.

Fully vaccinated?✅ You no longer need to wear a mask -- both indoors and outdoors.

Following the CDC guidance allowing people who have completed their vaccinations to stop wearing masks, Gov. Tim Walz is signing an executive order to end the state's mask mandate today. If you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you can go mask-free in most places, both indoors and outdoors.

And some things aren't changing under the new guidance.

Going to be in a large crowd ? You should still put your mask on. The mask requirement for public transportation is also still mostly valid, including on buses, trains and air planes.

For schools in Minnesota, the current "Safe Learning" plan will be in place through the end of this school year. That plan requires all K-12 students to wear a face covering while they are in school buildings, with some exemptions for children under 5 of five and those with certain medical conditions.

For the first time in Minnesota history, a legal pot bill cleared the House, but that will likely be it for this session.

The Minnesota House Thursday night voted to legalize marijuana beyond the current medical uses allowed in the state. But firm opposition in the Senate will likely prevent it from becoming law this year. Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka repeated Thursday that he is not interested in legalization and it is not going to happen.

On the Mississippi, a new record has been set -- for paddling down the length of the river.

KJ Millhone and his crew paddled a canoe from the headwaters all the way to the gulf of Mexico in just under 18 days, shaving eight hours off the previous record -- which stood for 20 years.
