| Editor's Picks To address the shortage of physicians in rural settings, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) introduced a bill to reauthorize the popular Teaching Health Centers Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) program, which allocates funds for primary care residents in community-based settings. The program evaluation committee (PEC) should review the overall educational goals of the program to see if all activities are aligned with the goals. The ACGME does not assign responsibility to formulate these goals to any particular person or committee, allowing each program to design goals as it sees fit. With the start of the academic year comes newness—new trainees and implementing new ideas and projects into the continuing improvement of your program. However, before you can implement improvements, you need to take time to reflect on the academic year that has just ended. This is where your annual program evaluation comes in. Read more.
