MEF cordially invites you to attend an in-person briefing with MEF Director of Policy Analysis Michael Rubin

Beyond the Gaza War:
Looming Challenges in the Middle East

Thursday, July 25
NEW YORK CITY

Israel’s war against Hamas might dominate headlines, but neither a ceasefire in Gaza nor Hamas’s defeat will end the threats emanating from the Middle East.

Succession looms in Iran. What might happen when Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei dies? What would it mean for Iran’s nuclear program and support for proxies? Under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey has become a terror sponsor in all but name. Is the problem in Turkey simply Erdoğan or is it societal? Meanwhile, succession also looms in the Palestinian Authority, whose 88-year-old chairman Mahmoud Abbas is currently serving the 20th year of his four-year term, and in Saudi Arabia, where Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman remains permanently on deck, fearful that his Alzheimer’s-ridden father, King Salman, might knock him out of succession at the last moment. Jordan’s stability, meanwhile, is less than meets the eye.

Lunch will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Business attire required.

We hope you can join!
