Extradition battle begins: Louisiana's top prosecutor has started the protracted process to have indicted New York doctor Margaret Carpenter extradited here to face criminal charges for allegedly prescribing abortion pills online to a pregnant Port Allen teenager. In likely the first case of its kind nationwide, Carpenter, 55, was indicted by a West Baton Rouge grand jury last month on a felony count of criminal abortion by means of abortion-inducing drugs.
