Start stacking sunscreen and booking surf lessons now. Because at the end of this summer, the wealth management industry is heading back to the beach.
Registrations for the second Future Proof Festival in California are open. And as someone who had the chance to work (and play) on Huntington Beach during last year's event, trust me when I say it's a see-it-to-believe-it kind of jam.
Financial advisors, fintech leaders, NBA all-stars, World Series champions and hip-hop icons all showing up for the same event? On paper, it doesn't quite add up. But in person, it somehow came together.
The 2023 agenda is still vaporware, but the focus seems to be going bigger. According to the Future Proof website, last year's event brought in more than 1,700 people, including 900 advisors. This year, they want 2,000 advisors to be among the more than 3,000 attendees.
We'll see how close they get and what music superstars handle the concert duties after Big Boi and Fitz and the Tantrums rocked the stage at Future Proof '22.
Also new this week is the news that BMO is joining forces with the Black Professionals in Tech Network to present the organization's first award ceremony. BPTN Founder Lekan Olawoye says the goal is to spotlight leaders from "a racialized community group seldom heard or even celebrated within the tech industry."
So if you know anyone Black in wealthtech that fits the bill, now is the time to submit their name for the chance at snagging an award this summer.
