In a year that rocked the Jewish world — the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas, rising antisemitism, unrest on college campuses, an ongoing war in Ukraine — the Forward reported with depth, nuance and care.
Just a few of the exceptional pieces we were recognized for:
Editor-in-chief Jodi Rudoren won first place for her profile of Rachel Goldberg-Polin, whose son is held hostage by Hamas. This was one of the numerous awards recognizing the Forward’s reporting on the ground from Israel.
“Seeking Relatives: How one newspaper column saved lives, reunited families and changed the course of Jewish history,” by Andrew Silverstein with translations by Forward archivist Chana Pollack, won three different awards for its poignant storytelling of the Forward’s role in reuniting families after the Holocaust.
Contributor Lev Golinkin won first place for his five-part investigative series that broke the Canadian scandal of recognition and financial support of former Nazi soldiers.
