Hello, everyone. Welcome to another big college football game day. And welcome back to Tiger Stadium the LSU Tigers. LSU hosts Arkansas in a 6 p.m. game on ESPN, with the network's lead crew of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Holly Rowe on the call. We've got a lot to get to today, so it's time to go no huddle: - In my column today, I address how the perception of this LSU team has turned on a dime since the Florida State loss. Correspondingly, the Tigers are huge 17.5-point favorite over the Razorbacks. But a recent history of desperate struggles between LSU and Arkansas suggests that the Tigers underestimate the Hogs at their peril.
- That said, I picked LSU to cover the big spread, 40-20. Check out the other picks, props and odds for Saturday's big game right here.
- The absence of Greg Brooks, who underwent emergency surgery last week to remove a brain tumor, will be felt on both sidelines. The New Orleans native played for the Razorbacks before transferring home to play for the Tigers.
- How can you watch and/or listen to Saturday night's game? We have all the particulars here just a click away.
- This isn't the only big game in the SEC this week. Check out the venerable Sheldon Mickles' five big story lines for Sept. 23 in the "It Just Means More" League.
- Fourth down gambles are seemingly on the rise across college football. LSU is riding that wave. Our Wilson Alexander analyzes the phenomenon here.
- Big news for LSU basketball as well. The men's program picked up a sizable commitment Friday, literally and figuratively.
- Meanwhile, the LSU women's program is entertaining one of the nation's top prospects this weekend.
- Finally, a pair of future LSU gymnasts have been chosen to represent the United States later this year at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
Whew. That was quite a list. If you've made it this far you've certainly got stamina. And good taste for being an LSU newsletter subscriber. Please tell a friend how to follow all of our comprehensive coverage on the Tigers right here. Enjoy your college football Saturday, Scott Rabalais |
