Last year, HSE consulted on a set of changes to the GSMR.

GSMR regulates the transmission and distribution of gas in Great Britain and includes provisions for the safe management of gas flow through a network, gas quality, arrangements for dealing with gas escapes and arrangements for managing gas supply emergencies.

HSE has now published its consultation response which details the responses received through the consultation and the changes proposed by Government to gas quality specification, the safety case regime and biomethane pipelines, co-operation duties and the gas emergency telephone service.

These changes will be important for the improved management of risk in gas transmission and distribution, whilst also boosting gas supply.
