My earliest memories are my love of drawing and animals. My high school art instructor encouraged me to enter an art competition presented by the Art Association of New Orleans, and the result was a scholarship awarded to me at the McCrady School of Fine and Applied Arts, located in the French Quarter. During my years of raising my children, I pursued my studies through art classes in the evenings, and, eventually studying illustration, photography and fine art through the local community college in the suburbs of Washington, DC, where I was residing. My two daughters and I moved to Colorado where they both graduated from CSU. I worked as a staff illustrator for Interweave Press for over nine years, but decided to return to my love of fine art. After living in Colorado for twenty-three years, I decided to move back to Virginia. I feel very much at home among the blue mountains and the trees. My horses are extremely happy to have green pastures. Something that is not too common in the dry and high foothills of Colorado. I feel comfortable with oils, watercolor, acrylic and graphite, and it is difficult to decide which I enjoy the most. However, I do have to say that my first love is drawing. I use them all to capture aspects of nature and the play of light and shadows that most people may miss in their hurried lives. These are favorite subjects for me to draw and paint.
