TOP OF THE AGENDA | Gaza aid centres close as IDF says roads leading to them are 'combat zones' |
|
| | A UN spokesperson has called the GHF a 'pretence of aid'. Credit: Getty Images | Aid distribution centres in Gaza are closed on Wednesday, with the group that runs them - the controversial US and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) - saying this is to allow time for reorganisation. It comes after more than 60 people were killed in three days on roads approaching one of the sites. Israeli troops have been accused of firing on civilians by officials in Gaza, but Israel has denounced these as "false reports". While the distribution centres are shut, Israel's military has warned that roads leading to them will be considered "combat zones". Elsewhere, 12 Palestinians were killed and several others injured in an Israeli strike targeting a school housing displaced people in Khan Younis, officials say. |

| BEYOND THE HEADLINES | The most dangerous country in the world to give birth |
|
| | | Chinenye Nweze bled to death after giving birth in hospital five years ago. Credit: Henry Edeh | Nigeria is the world's most dangerous country in which to give birth. An estimated total of 75,000 women die in childbirth every year - or one every seven minutes. A combination of a lack of medics, poor facilities, costly treatments and cultural practices are contributing to the causes. |

And finally... in the US | The Duchess of Sussex has posted intimate family pictures of Princess Lilibet to mark her fourth birthday. Meghan usually only shares photos of her children from behind to protect their privacy, but in the most recent photo, more can be seen of the princess's face, while another snap shows her as a newborn. | |
