Until 31 May, you and up to three others can spend a night in a shepherd's hut in Lancashire for £59 -- that's less than £15 per person.

The huts have two double beds, central heating and ensuite bathrooms, and are set in the grounds of Samlesbury Hall, a 13th-century stately home with regular exhibitions, events and guided tours (open Sunday-Friday). In the evening, you can gather around the on-site fire pit for a campfire, light up the barbecue or head into nearby Preston or Blackburn.
