BCAM Women in Science corner is on!
This space will gather all the information regarding gender equality at BCAM. We have set up a shelf where the Equality Plan 2022-2026 is available for everyone, together with books on women in science.
To participate in this collaborative space, we encourage you to add the books on science and women that you know about to create a large library. To order a book, follow the link.

Kebir will work along with Maira Aguiar, group leader of the Mathematical and Theoretical Biology group, on the development and expansion of RepairX, a decision tool for deploying vaccinations efforts in the context of COVID-19
Amira Kebir is an Assistant Professor of applied mathematics at the University of Tunis and a researcher at the BIMS laboratory at the Pasteur Institute of Tunis. Her research interests include the application of mathematical and computational models in biology and public health. She has an interesting background in population modeling as well as its mathematical and numerical analysis and has been involved in several research projects related to health programs like Covid-19 and cancer.

Twenty-four Basque entities join forces around the Emakumeak Zientzian project through the signing of a new collaboration agreement, thus ratifying their commitment to the objectives of the initiative: to make visible the activity of women in science, to break with the general male roles attributed to scientific-technical activities and to promote the choice of scientific careers among girls and adolescents. With these objectives in mind, the organisations are joining forces to organise a joint programme of activities on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which is celebrated every year on 11 February. BCAM has started collaborating with this initiative and we are looking forward to working on it in the following editions.

BCAM researchers participate in different initiatives for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science

The United Nations declared 11 February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science to promote and improve the access and participation of women and girls in science. This year, the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics – BCAM, is once again taking part in different initiatives carried out with the participation of researchers from the centre.

Scientists of yesterday and today, has been celebrated on 17 February at the Bidebarrieta library. Six women scientists working in research centres in Bizkaia will talk about the research they are involved in and pay tribute to some of the great women scientists in history by telling the story of their fascinating lives and scientific contributions. Among the six participants is Lore Zumeta, who in addition to presenting her research, will talk about Florence Nightingale.
