Eight institutions selected for ACGME initiative

The ACGME announced the eight institutions it has selected to participate in the first phase of its four-year initiative, Pursuing Excellence in Clinical Learning Environments. The eight ACGME-accredited sponsoring institutions will serve as pathway innovators, which are tasked with engaging one of its clinical sites to implement innovations for clinical learning environments.

Half of geriatric fellowship positions go unfilled

With so few young physicians are training to be geriatricians, states with large populations of adults age 65 and older are finding themselves unprepared to meet the needs of its residents. According to Kaiser Health News, there are 130 geriatric fellowship programs nationwide with 383 positions. This year only 192 positions were filled.

Program coordinator salaries by region

Location can be a factor in determining how much coordinators earn. According to HCPro’s 2016 Residency Coordinator Salary Survey, coordinators in the Pacific and Northeast earn the most. These coordinators also ranked highest in last year’s survey.
