MONDAY 21 AUGUST 2017 CMUINSIGHTS.COM
Welcome to the new week in music. Look out for the first CMU Daily of the week landing in your inbox later this morning, with the RIAA firing back at YouTube's Lyor Cohen over the whole "safe harbour is a distraction" thing.

But first, the new academic year is incoming, which is a great time to be expanding your knowledge of this business of music. And, by a marvelous coincidence, we have a new series of CMU Insights seminars and masterclasses incoming.

Our programme of eight CMU Insights evening seminars together provide a great overview of the music industry in 2017.

It's a brilliant beginner's guide for those new to the business. But it also helps more experienced music industry practioners understand how all the different strands of the sector work together and get fully up to speed with the latest developments.

The CMU Insights masterclasses dig deeper on key topics, explaining how things work in much more detail, and covering the very latest trends and developments. Our upcoming masterclasses cover all things digital and all things piracy.

Read on for more information about our upcoming seminars and masterclasses, all of which are hosted at the London HQ of our event partners Lewis Silkin.

Finally, I am in Jamaica this week for the latest part of the brilliant Business Of Music programme being run by Jamaican PRO JACAP and the Association Of Caribbean Copyright Societies. You can find out more about that in this blog post I wrote.

Thanks for reading

MD & Business Editor, CMU
