CVS Health is investing nearly $35 million and working with Urban Housing Communities, Ikaika 'Ohana and Hunt Capital Partners to build two affordable housing developments in Hawaii that will include "supportive social and educational programs tailored to address their specific needs," the company said in a statement. CVS has spent more than $200 million over the past five years toward affordable housing for vulnerable people as part of an overall strategy to address social determinants of health, improve health outcomes and reduce costs.

Rental costs continue to be a significant contributor to the government's inflation data, even though Apartment List is reporting that rent actually fell for six straight months before a modest gain in February. One reason for the split may relate to the way that the Bureau of Labor Statistics gathers and calculates its metrics.

There is no urgent economic reason to rush to cut interest rates, according to Raphael Bostic, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Rate cuts will likely be appropriate before the end of 2024, but the central bank must walk a "fine line" to ensure that inflation does not reemerge, Bostic said. Bostic's comments come a couple days before Fed Chair Jerome Powell is scheduled to testify before Congress.
