| Get More Done in Less Time | It's August, and that means Fall is approaching (say it isn't so!). Summer vacations are coming to an end, and everyone seems to be in "back to school" mode. Work may be picking up after a bit of a summer break. You probably have a lot of things on your plate and even more things you would like to accomplish. How will you get it all done? I recently had the pleasure, along with Daniel J. Siegel, co-author of How to Do More in Less Time, of being a guest on the On Balance podcast from the Michigan State Bar with JoAnn Hathaway and Molly Ranns. We talked about some of our favorite strategies from the book. Give the podcast a listen here. Or if you prefer, check out my productivity posts and videos on Lawyer Meltdown here. If you're already crushing it with your productivity, but want help with your LinkedIn presence, I've been continuing my series of LinkedIn video tips. I've included one of those videos below. I'd love to get your comments on the videos, my columns, or ideas you have for future articles or newsletters. Let me know what you're thinking! Email me at Allison@LegalEaseConsulting.com. | |
| | Finding Keywords to Add to Your LinkedIn Profile | Does your LinkedIn Profile contain relevant keywords to help your target audience find you? When I am doing a webinar, LinkedIn training, or working with clients on their LinkedIn profiles, one of the pieces of advice I always give is to make sure that your LinkedIn profile includes keywords that your target audience will use to find you or to search for the services you provide. Keywords should be included throughout your LinkedIn Profile. Learn how to find the best keywords for your profile. Watch above, or read the full post and watch the video here. You can find all of my videos on the Lawyer Meltdown website, or you can subscribe to the Legal Ease Consulting YouTube Channel. Recent Columns | | The current issue of the American Bar Association's Law Practice Division's Law Practice magazine is the Big Ideas issue. My column in this issue talks about preparing for partnership. I find that too many law firms fail to adequately prepare their lawyers for partnership, and don't give enough guidance on the kinds of things lawyers who aspire to partnership should be doing to make themselves better law firm partners. This column gives my thoughts on what lawyers who want to be partners should be doing - and thinking about. You may recall that my previous column, in the May/June Management issue, talked about evaluating management skills. That column provided some suggestions on how to evaluate management skills for those who aspire to management positions and those who already hold them. This July/August column is a follow up to that. Stay tuned for my next column in the September/October issue on budgeting for law firms. | Second Edition with new tips | The Second Edition of How to Do More in Less Time: The Complete Guide to Increasing Your Productivity and Improving Your Bottom Line, which I co-authored with Daniel J. Siegel, is now available from the American Bar Association. When we started writing the new edition, we thought it would be an easy task, but we found that even though the concepts in the book are evergreen, there was a lot of updating that we needed to do to be in line with the way lawyers practice today. And we added material on videoconferencing, working from home and more.If you pick up a copy, I'd love to hear what you think about it. | Make LinkedIn Work for You | | My friend and colleague, Dennis Kennedy and I are proud to announce that our book, Make LinkedIn Work for You, A Practical Handbook for Lawyers and Other Legal Professionals is now available. The book is an adaptation of all of our previous work on LinkedIn, from webinars and presentations to articles and books. This book is different from what we've done before in that we published direct to Kindle first, and the book contains no screenshots. You can get the book on Amazon.com in both paperback and Kindle versions. | Privacy Policy | Visit the link below to see our privacy policies, or, if you no longer wish to receive this newsletter, click the unsubscribe button at the bottom of this newsletter. | See our privacy policy here |
