Get Ready for the Year-End Rally: What History Says About November Strength in the Market

As we roll through November, history points to an interesting setup....

Over the past decade, November has been one of the stronger months for the S&P 500, Nasdaq and Russell 2000. This seasonal trend suggests a potential rally — but it doesn’t come without some choppiness along the way.

Here’s what to keep an eye on...

The market had been giving mixed signals right up until it was clear that Donald Trump is the winner of the 2024 election. Now the market seems to be positioning itself for a stronger push once we’re through this week.

Historically, November is known for seasonal strength — especially as we get into the second half of the month and closer to the holiday season. This setup is one that could give us strong, potentially market-wide moves heading into December.

In my view, now is the time to start prepping positions in sectors with momentum — which we’ll cover at noon ET today in my VIP Trade Room! — and waiting for confirmation signals as the broader market shows its hand.

Basic materials stocks — like Freeport-McMoRan (FCX) and DuPont (DD) — and certain consumer staples may see gains, given the historical tailwinds we’re seeing this month.
But let’s not jump the gun… Waiting for market confirmation can pay off.

If we zoom out and look at the context, this month is shaping up to be strong, with potential gains extending through Thanksgiving and into December.

While it’s tempting to load up on positions — especially this morning — let’s remember the volatility that can come with post-election uncertainty.

Caution and timing are still key.

Keep an eye on sector-specific trends and watch for confirmations — the next few weeks could set up some solid plays, especially if the market leans into its historical seasonal strength.
