It’s almost summer in Jackson County . . Time for family reunions and barbeques, swimming and boating in our beautiful mountain lakes, outdoor concerts, heading to the coast to cool off.  Sure, we’d all like to have a chill, relaxing summer– BUT WE’VE GOT A DEMOCRACY to SAVE!  Read on to find out how you can play a part this summer in helping elect candidates who will stand up for our democratic principles.

Roevember is Coming Rally . . Sunday, June 23 12:00 noon - 2:00 at the Ashland Plaza

*ACTION:  Join our friends from ORD2 Indivisible and the Southern Oregon’s Women’s March for the Roevember  Rally on the plaza in Ashland on Sunday, June 23 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. *

It’s time to take a stand for the right of everyone to make their own reproductive health care decisions.  While the right to the full range of reproductive health care, including abortions, is protected for now in Oregon, the Oregon Republican party promises to abolish this protection and the presumptive Republican nominee for president, the disgraced and indicted former president Donald Trump has expressed support for a nationwide abortion ban.  

Join us for this rally to mark the anniversary of the devastating Dobb’s decision and the fall of Roe. There will be music and speakers.  Bring a sign, your friends and your voice for choice!  This year’s election will determine whether our nation continues down the dark path of restricting our rights to basic health care or fights back . . . Roevember is coming!

Go “Fourth” for Democracy . . Ashland’s July 4 Parade

Lineup at 9:15 a.m. -Parade from 10:00 - 12:00 noon 

This is a very important event with thousands of people lining the streets of Ashland and a great opportunity to reach many supportive voters to motivate them to VOTE and get involved in local elections . . . AND IT'S FUN!

Some of you have already volunteered to join us in the parade--THANK YOU! But we need many more folks to make a strong showing in the parade.  This is our chance to show that the Democratic Party is active and working hard to get out the BLUE Vote in 2024. 

You and your family, neighbors and like-minded friends are welcome to join us! Bring a friend! Children welcome!  Kids can ride in a wagon you decorate or decorate their bikes or scooters and ride along with us. Wouldn't this be fun for your grandkids if they're visiting?  We always get lots of positive responses--so this is a FEEL GOOD event and will get you energized for the upcoming election.

Reach out to voters at the Jackson County Fair-July 16 - 21!

The Jackson County Democrats will have a booth indoors at the Jackson County Expo as a part of the Jackson County Fair starting the evening of July 16 and continuing until the fair concludes on July 21.  We have a lot of shifts to cover!  This is an important opportunity to reach out to voters and let them know about our great candidates and how important it is to VOTE in the upcoming Fall elections.

Join us for our Fall campaign kickoff in a lovely setting . . Meet our local candidates and get inspired for the upcoming Fall campaigns.  This will be our last major fundraiser before the Fall election.   We’ve got big plans for our ground game and voter outreach which will be crucial for our success–your support is needed.  Tickets will go on sale soon–Stay tuned. 

Neighborhood Leaders made a BIG IMPACT in Primary Turn-out!

While overall primary election turnout in Jackson County was low–coming in at a dismal 36% of eligible voters–Jackson County Democrats turned out stronger with 47% of eligible Democrats voting.  What’s more–neighborhoods covered by our Neighborhood Leader Program (NLP) recorded a much stronger turnout with some of our Neighborhood Leaders reporting 80 to 95% of Democratic voters on their turf voting. 

Each election we see more and more evidence of the effectiveness of the Neighborhood Leader program.  Will you join us?  

*Action:  Volunteer to be a Neighborhood Leader by sending an email to nlp@jcdemocrats.org  If you’re already a Neighborhood Leader, please consider adding an additional turf to help us cover more Democrats in our county or recruit a friend to become a Neighborhood Leader. * 

Neighborhood Leaders contact Democratic and Progressive voters in their neighborhood or a nearby neighborhood each election and ask them to VOTE.  We give you a list of Democratic and progressive voters to contact. Neighborhood Leaders walk their neighborhood knocking on doors, or make phone calls and send postcards.  Plenty of training and support is available to our Neighborhood Leaders to make this a positive experience.  

The “ground game” of directly reaching out to voters by knocking on doors, making phone calls and other personal contact is how elections are won.  Let’s “Leave Everything on the Field” this election season . . and GET OUT THE VOTE!

Democracy starts in your home and in your neighborhood.  Maybe you’ve found yourself absorbed watching the news about the Trump trials or have been sucked into political rants on social media threads, but NOW is the time to make a real difference with your actions.  

Many of us have our eyes on the swing states this election season . . But what we do locally is hugely important.  Ultra MAGA Republicans are gaining influence around our state and right here in Jackson County.  Wouldn’t you like to see a strong Democratic Party take them on?   Let’s go ALL OUT FOR DEMOCRACY this election season.
