| | Hey folks, The cold is waning and summer is approaching. It's the season for spending as much time outdoors as you can in as little clothing as is socially acceptable. There are mountains to climb, trails to run, hills to hike, oceans to swim, lakes to kayak, rivers to raft, and an entire outside world to explore, conquer, and experience. Is your body ready? I'm not even talking about vanity. You also need to be physically fit enough to do all the active things you want to do. In order to make the most of the summertime, you have to get fit. You should be able to walk as long as you want without getting tired and play as much as you can. Ideally, the physical demands of summer should be an afterthought. You shouldn't have to worry about getting tired or sore while hiking, running, biking, or any of the other activities we like to do. But vanity matters too. You want to be comfortable in your own skin, to like the way you look—not just how you perform. And the thing about it is that form and function are complementary. Losing excess body fat will help you become more fit. Becoming stronger and fitter will help you improve your body composition. It all aligns. Summer is coming up fast, but you've still got time if you begin today. Start getting serious about your workouts. Start focusing on all those strength and endurance exercises you've been neglecting.
