Rising hip-hop and Amapiano musician Eeque is set to release his debut EP on 4 August 2023. Eeque, also known as Leago Moganedi, hails from Kwa-Thema. The artist is carving a name for himself in South Africa's music industry, having already collaborated with Mr Jazziq, Uncle Waffles, KiDX and Focalistic.
The rapper and vocalist strives for authenticity in his music, he tells News24. "I speak about like real-life stories; I'm trying to spread a positive message," the 24-year-old musician says. "As people, we go through different things," he adds, but through music, he wants to show how people are connected through shared experiences.
Though he was inspired by his musical family, he can't precisely pinpoint when and how he became so interested in music. "I just fell in love with music at a young age," he says. The way music is made also interested him, which is one of the reasons he became so passionate.
When asked what drives him, Eeque's answer wasn't the fame or wealth that comes with being a successful musician but the act of storytelling.
