Good evening,

Good evening,

The succession talks are in full swing at corporate law firm Gilbert + Tobin.

Although no one is trying to push managing partner Danny Gilbert out the door, the famed lawyer will be 72 in January, so it’s no surprise that retirement is on the cards.

As with most law firms, G+T is not for the faint-hearted, but from the outside, it seems to be a reasonably collegiate firm.

The question on everyone’s lips – from the juniors to the partners – is who will take over from Gilbert. Partners such as Tim Gordon and Rachael Bassil would be well-positioned, but the firm may go down the non-lawyer route, in which case Sam Nickless could be the right fit.

Elsewhere, the M&A boom is tipped to continue in 2022, and MacCap and Citi were lining up investors for a small-cap deal on Monday evening.

Happy reading,
