A pilot, a plane, and two jerrycans of fuel.

When 40-year-old Filomena from Atauro Island faced life-threatening childbirth complications, her future, and her baby’s, hung in the balance.  

Thanks to our 15-minute medical evacuation flight, Filomena’s story took a different turn. Together, we helped get her to the national hospital, where doctors saved her life and safely delivered her baby girl, Melita.  

Without that flight, her story might have ended tragically. In partnership with our supporters, we made that life-saving journey possible.

At MAF, flying is at the heart of everything we do. For nearly 80 years, our planes have soared across rugged mountains, dense jungles, and vast plains to reach those who are otherwise unreachable.  

With your support, we’ve been able to facilitate thousands of medical evacuation flights that really have meant the difference between life and death.  

Just £49 helps provide two jerrycans of fuel that can power our aircraft for 15 minutes – enough to make a life-saving difference to people in some of the remotest places on earth.
