| Hello. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has cut its global growth forecast due to uncertainty caused by trade tariffs. Our business reporter Nick Edser explains why the US faced one of the biggest downgrades. From Ecuador, our correspondent Ione Wells describes the challenges facing President Daniel Noboa's second term. And finally, scientists discuss the existence of a colour invisible to the naked eye.

TOP OF THE AGENDA | US growth forecast slashed after tariffs |
|
| | The IMF said uncertainty around trade policy was a "major factor" behind the growth downgrades. Credit: Getty Images | The IMF expects the US to be hit the hardest among advanced economies due to uncertainty caused by tariffs. Growth in the country is now expected to be just 1.8% this year, down from the IMF's initial estimate of 2.7% in January, writes Nick Edser. US President Donald Trump, who has announced a flurry of tariffs since he started his term in January, is looking to negotiate dozens of trade deals over the next three months. His administration is still announcing new measures, with the Department of Commerce planning levies of up to 3,521% on imports of solar panels from four South East Asian countries. |

| A mandate to crack down on crime | | The 37-year-old has built a brand for himself through being “not your average president”. | From Our Own Correspondent: Ecuador's President Daniel Noboa was returned to power in a decisive election win earlier this month. Voters expect him to deliver on crime and security, even as the country’s homicide rate remains, for now, stubbornly high. |

| | Ione Wells, South America correspondent |
|
| | One way Noboa stands apart from other leaders I’ve interviewed is his directness. There’s little attempt to sugarcoat things, even the more controversial aspects of his so-called ‘war’ on criminal gangs who have plagued his country with violence in recent years.
He gave a straight “yes” when I asked if he wanted foreign troops on the ground to fight cartels. He defended Ecuador’s armed forces to the hilt, despite allegations some of their actions have led to human rights abuses. But whether this strategy will work is more uncertain. |

And finally... | A team of scientists claim to have discovered a new colour. Olo is described as a saturated blue-green, but it can only be seen when specific cells in the retina are stimulated, leaving other experts to say that its existence is "open to argument". While we can't fire lasers pulses into our eyes to take a look, we can show what's said to be a close approximation. | |
