Good morning from GMSA. We’re all still processing the sudden passing of NBA legend Kobe Bryant. It was heartbreaking to watch the emotional reactions to the news during Sunday’s Spurs game with Toronto. Many players and coaches were in tears, including Tim Duncan and Becky Hammon. We just read this morning that the Dallas Mavericks will retire the number 24 in tribute to Bryant. I can’t even believe Kobe is dead at 41,” said basketball fan, Kahill Warfield. Bryant’s 13 year-old daughter, Gianna, was also reported to have died in the crash. Their deaths sent shock waves across the country. Warfield said he grew up watching the sports icon. “I love Kobe, so it’s very sad,” he said. The shooting was reported just after 11 p.m. at the Autumn Brook Apartments in the 11700 block of West Avenue, not far from Highway 281 and Blanco Road. According to police, the men were watching TV when bullets started blasting through their second story apartment window. What’s Trending Mountain lion weighing in at 150 pounds shot in North Texas A Taylor County man and his friend were calling for coyotes Friday night when the unthinkable happened - a 150-pound mountain lion appeared in their sights. The mountain lion was shot around 8:30 p.m. from 50 yards away with an AR 223 by Aaron Getty, 24, and Tyler Terrell, 21, on a ranch just east of Tuscola. The big cat weighed in at 150 pounds and was 68 inches long from nose to buttocks. It’s tail alone was 32 inches long. According to the TPWD, a hunting license is required for shooting non-game species such as mountain lions. However, there are no closed seasons, bag limits or possession limits.
