Good morning! So, we were minutes away from the beginning of the newscast this morning at 4:30 a.m. and Mike Osterhage mutters, “she’s not gonna make it.” The show began and within seconds, I heard what sounded like tap dancing as Leslie, wearing heels, jogged briskly into the studio. Grinning from ear to ear, she did a fly-by behind me on camera and took her seat. We all got a good laugh. Live TV sometimes has fun, unscripted moments...and this was definitely one of them! The towns of Wimberley and San Marcos were ravaged by what was called a “tidal wave” along the Blanco and San Marcos rivers. Thirteen fatalities were reported across the affected area, and the aftermath of the storm was devastating for both communities. Father's indictment in 3-month-old's death sparks awareness of child abuse-related deaths In light of the recent indictment involving a man who is suspected of severely injuring his 3-month-old daughter, several in the community are heartbroken over similar cases nationwide. Leslie Wood, director of education and community response with Children Bereavement Center of South Texas, said cases like this can be very difficult to cope with for everyone in the family. Grieving mother informs others about crime victim compensation program For innocent victims and their families, living through a crime is hard enough, and additional burdens such as hospital bills, crime scene cleanup and funeral expenses only make the situation worse.
