Go backstage at Queen Elizabeth Hall for these special performances

The entirety of Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre - including backstage dressing rooms, green rooms and technical spaces - act as the set for a series of upcoming performances, inviting you to explore it all.

Though audiences usually remain in the auditorium for performances at the venue, conceptual artist Marina Abramović and the Marina Abramović Institute (MAI) are doing things a bit differently, and have created site-specific, long-durational works, which you can experience on a self-led tour throughout the building.

Participating artists are Collective Absentia, Carla Adra, Cassils, Paula Garcia, Miles Greenberg, Sandra Johnston, Carlos Martiel, Yiannis Pappas, Paul Setúbal, Aleksandar Timotic and Despina Zacharopoulou. They'll be creating infinite possible encounters between themselves and visitors across this five-day takeover. What's more, Marina Abramović herself - a Serbian conceptual artist and performance art pioneer - will take part on Wednesday 4 October and Sunday 8 October (session one), and will be present at various other times during the takeover.

Marina Abramović Institute Takeover is at Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Southbank Centre, 4-8 October 2023. Tap the blue button to find out more and book this unique experience. Our readers get £10 off tickets for Thursday, Friday or Saturday with the promo code MALONDONIST*
