Have you ever wondered how we put together the programming for the Aspen Ideas Festival? This week, we’re diving deep into three of this year’s themes — We the People, Life Well Lived, and Driving the Economy Forward — to give you a behind-the-scenes look at how we create the program tracks that will guide 7 days with some 300 speakers, 150 sessions, and 3,000 attendees.
These themes change every year in response to the news of the world, the emerging challenges we face both locally and globally, and the cutting-edge ideas that are inspiring us.

We just added more incredible leaders to our speaker lineup, including:
- Kelly Corrigan, host of the NPR show “Kelly Corrigan Wonders” and the PBS show “Tell Me More with Kelly Corrigan,” on finding our shared humanity through conversation
- Lisa Jackson, Vice President of Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives at Apple, discussing how to manufacture consumer products with planet and purpose in mind
- Three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning political commentator and author Thomas Friedman reflecting on how writing helps us make sense of the world
