It's time to go racing again. Last week, Formula 1 announced three exciting new races for the calendar, including the sport's first-ever race at Portimao in Portugal. Today, we're able to take you there. Fans will be allowed at the Portimao Circuit in October, as this unrelenting circuit poses a special challenge to the drivers who will be the first to race Formula 1 cars at this exciting high-speed, undulating circuit. This great circuit will serve up a spectacle for all making the short trip to the beautiful coastal town of Portimao, which has plenty on offer away from the track, including a relaxing beach, energising watersports, and some much-needed autumnal Portuguese sun.
The 2020 Formula 1 season is the first truly global sport to be back up and running, and the first three races of the season have been as drama-filled as fans could hope for. The 2020 Portugese Grand Prix now provides the first chance for fans to see the new 2020 cars in racing action at a brand new track.
This undulating, high-speed circuit will provide a new challenge to the drivers, as they take part in the first-ever Formula 1 race at this track. No one knows what F1 racing will be like on the Algarve coast, but one thing that's for sure is that unpredictability always adds to the spectacle.
The quaint coastal town of Portimao has plenty to offer away from the track. Locacated on the Southern tip of Portugal, you'll be able to relax by the harbour or discover the town's museums. Or, if you need more adrenaline, you'll find plenty of watersports on the beach.
If you've missed out on some holiday sun this summer, Portugal could be your chance to full that void. Temperatures in the south of Portugal hover in the mid-twenties for most the month, making it a great circuit to bask in the sun.
Leaving from Gatwick, you can be at Faro Airport within three hours, with the town of Portimao less than an hour from the airport. That means you could leave London early on a Friday morning with plenty of time to explore Portugal and see a weekend's worth of racing in what is set to be a highlight of the 2020 season.
For much of 2020 it didn't look like there would be any opportunities to get to live racing! Well this has all-changed with the arrival of Portugal and the AutΓ³dromo Internacional do Algarve circuit. Offering General Admission and a variety of Grandstand options from as little as Β£91 per person, it offers great value for those desperate to see the action live.
