Goal posts move again on flood project

with Jennifer Wadsworth | Assistant metro editor

Good morning. Let's take a look at the latest headlines.

Goal posts move again on flood canal

A long-sought river diversion project to protect thousands of homes from flooding in the Baton Rouge region is likely to take another two years to finish due to delays from a major pipeline relocation, a top federal official acknowledged Thursday. David Mitchell has the latest on the long-protracted project.

Guilty plea in year-old's death

The father of a year-old Baton Rouge boy who died of blunt force injuries in 2019 pleaded guilty Thursday to manslaughter and faces 10 to 25 years in prison. Joe Gyan Jr. has the details.

'Is it cake?'

You've probably seen the memes. They look like common objects — houseplants, a roll of bathroom tissue, a human hand — until a knife sliced through them reveals … oh, my God, it's cake!

The phenomenon that is "things that look like something else, but are indeed cake" is now a Netflix competition series and, as our features editor Jan Bergeron reports, Louisiana can root for on of its own in contestant Nina Maria Charles.

Thanks for stopping by!
